Impotence or erectile dysfunction is the most stressful thing that can happen to any man. Being aware of your sexual shortcoming can also be a big blow to your confidence and self esteem. Impotence or erectile dysfunction not only results from a whole lot of diseases and physical disorders but can also be a result of certain emotional or psychological factors. Here are some of the most common psychological causes of impotence in men:

  1. Performance Anxiety- This is more common among younger men. When you are nervous and worry about how you are going to perform in bed, in all likelihood you are going to end up a failure.
  2. Stress and Depression- Stress is the major factors that not only drives sex drive out of your life but it also triggers erectile dysfunction or impotence in men. Stress increases the level of Cortisol in blood which adversely affects testosterone production and leads to low libido and erectile problems. Same is the case with depression that also results in impotence.
  3. Low Self Esteem-This can be due to prior episodes of ED (thus a feeling of inadequacy) or can be the result of other issues unrelated to sexual performance.
  4. Guilt- Guilt of not being able to satisfy your partner or cheating your partner can also lead to erectile dysfunction.

There can be other issues as well such as childhood abuse and trauma. All men face erectile dysfunction at some time or the other. However, stressing over it can only aggravate the problem. What you need to do is relax and look for a safe and effective remedy to cure impotence.
